Luaus in Hawaii
Where to find a luau in the
Hawaiian islands, including luaus on Oahu, Maui, Kauai, and
the Big Island of Hawaii.
A luau is a feast of traditional Hawaiian foods,
usually including a pig baked in an imu, or underground
oven. Luaus frequented by visitors to Hawaii
also include a show with Polynesian music, singing,
and dancing.
Oahu Luaus
There are two luaus in Waikiki on the south
shore of Oahu, an elegant oceanfront luau at historic Royal
Hawaiian Hotel and an "under the stars" roof-top luau at the Hilton
Hawaiian Village Resort. There are also two
luaus on the west side of Oahu and one at the
Polynesian Cultural Center on the northeast
side of Oahu.
Big Island Luaus
All of the Big Island luaus are on the west side of
Hawaii Island and they are located on the grounds
of hotels and resorts in Kailua-Kona, Waikoloa,
Keauhou, and Kohala.
Maui Luaus
The Old Lahaina Luau is one of the most
highly rated luaus in the Hawaiian Islands.
Other popular luaus on Maui take place at
the Hyatt Regency, Maui Marriott,
and the Outrigger Wailae Resorts.
Kauai Luaus
On the island of Kauai, three well-known
luaus are Gaylord's Reflections of Paradise Luau,
Smith's Tropical Paradise Luau, and the luau
held at the luxurious Princeville Resort.
