Lieutenant Colonel Ellison Onizuka's second
space flight was as a mission specialist
on Space Shuttle Challenger flight STS 51-L.
That flight was launched from the Kennedy Space
Center, Florida, at 11:38:00 EST on January 28, 1986.
The entire Challenger crew was killed when the shuttle
exploded 1 minute and 13 seconds after it was launched.
