group Booga Booga.
Booga Booga was one of the hottest comedy groups
in Hawaiiin the 1970's and 1980's, performing
their special brand of "Kanaka Komedy".
The original members of the Booga Booga comedy
group were Rip Reiplinger, Ed Kaahea, and James Grant
Benton. Rip left the group in 1977 to develop
his comedy career on the mainland. When Rip left
Andy Bumatai replaced him for about a year.
Ed Kaahea is
the last living member of the orginal Booga Booga.
Rip Reiplinger died in 1984 and James Benton died
of a heart attack in the 2002.
Ed Kaahea
Ed Kaahea was an actor with a bachelor's degree in fine
arts in theater, a master's degree in film,
and a master's in education. He now works on the island
of Kauai where he heads a grant-funded computer research
proram for the south Pacific.

Rip Reiplinger
Rip left Booga Booga in 1977 to develop
his career on the mainland. When he returned
to Hawaii he starred in an Emmy award winning
television special that was first broadcast
on KGMB in 1982. It is now available on DVD.
