Statues of King Kamehameha the Great

There are three golden statues of King Kamehameha the Great, one in Honolulu on the island of Oahu, one in Kapaau on the Big island of Hawaii, and one in the United States National Statuary Hall in Washington DC.

Honolulu Statue of King Kamehameha
The golden statue of King Kamehameha the Great in front of the Aiiolani Hale in the historic capital district of downtown Honolulu is a replica of the original statue, which was lost at sea in 1880.

Big Island Statue of King Kamehameha
The original Statue of King Kamehameha the Great was recovered from the sea and erected at Kapaau in the Kohala region of the Big Island, where it still stands today

Washington DC Statue of King Kamehameha
In 1871 King Kamehameha V declared June 11 to be King Kamehameha Day to honor his great grandfather, King Kamehamehathe Great. Today King Kamehamea Day is one of the most important holidays in Hawaii.
