Christmas Boat Parades in Hawaii
There are two Christmas boat parades in Hawaii
and both of them are on the island of Oahu. One
is a few miles west of Waikiki in the Downtown Honolulu Harbor
and one is a few miles east of Waikiki in Hawaii Kai.
Honolulu Christmas Boat Parade
Every December the Hawaii Yacht Club and the
Waikiki Yacht Club present a Christmas Boat Parade
in Honolulu Harbor that can be viewed from the
Aloha Tower Marketplace and other spots
on the Honolulu Harbor waterfront.
The parade route begins at the Ala Wai Yacht Harbor
and it proceeds west to Honolulu Harbor, passing
by the Aloha Tower Marketplace twice, and returning
to the Ala Wai Harbor. More then 30 sailboats and
power boats typically participate in the parade.
The Hawaii Yacht Club has been organizing their annual Christmas
Boat parade for more then 14 years and in 2008
the Waikiki Yacht Club joined them as a co-sponsor.
The 2008 Honolulu Harbor Christmas Boat Parade took
place on December 13, 2008 from 6:00 p.m.
to 9:00 p.m. For information about the
next annual event contact the Hawaii Yacht Club,
the Waikiki Yacht Club, or the Aloha Tower Marketplace.

Hawaii Kai Christmas Boat Parade
The Hawaii Kai Christmas Boat Parade is presented
every December by the Hawaii Kai Marina Community
Association. The event typically attracts thousands
of spectators and it features 30 to 40 boats
lighted and decorated for the Christmas holidays.
The event typically includes
about 40 entries and it can be viewed from
the Koko Marina Shopping Center,
the Hawaii Kai Shopping Center, and at
several points along the road.
The 12th Annual Hawaii Kai Festival of
Lights Boat Parade will begin at sunset
on Saturday, December 20, 2008. There will be
be a pre-parade concert at the Hawaii Kai Towne Center
in 2008 featuring a free concert by Grammy Award nominee
Amy Hanaialii.
