Hawaii for Australian Visitors

Flights Between Australia and Hawaii
In December of 2006, JetStar, the discount airline owned by Quantas, began offering three direct flights a week between Sydney and Honolulu and two direct flights a week between Melbourne and Honolulu. In August of 2007 the Melbourne flights were discontinued because of low seat sales and the number of flights between Sydney and Honolulu was increased from three to five flights a week. At the time JetStar began flying to Hawaii Quantas was operating three flights a week between Sydney and Honolulu and those flights were expected to continue. The United States Department of Transportation. gave its approval for JetStar to operate the flights in August of 2006. Hawaiian Airlines offers three flights a week from Sydney to Honolulu and Air Canada also offer flights between Hawaii and Australia. and in February of 2009 Hawaiian airlines entered into a ticketing agreement with Virgin Blue of Australia to make it easier to book flights from Australia that include both Virgin Blue and Hawaiian Airlines legs. It usually takes about 10 hours to fly from Sydney, Australia to Honolulu on the island of Oahu in Hawaii.
