Maui Onion Dip Recipe

Ingredients

- 2 large Maui onions
- 4 tablespoons of butter
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 teaspoon Hawaiian or Kosher salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 4 ounces cream cheese (room temperature)
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise

Instructions

Cut the onions in half and cut the halves into 1/8 inch slices. Cook the onions, cayenne, slat,and pepper for about ten minutes. Reduce heat and cook, stirring occasionally, for about 20 minutes, or until onions are browned. Cool. Beat cream cheese, sour cream, and mayonnaise together until smooth. Mix in browned onions. Serve with thick-cut Maui chips or other Hawaiian potato chips.
