Pineapple Rum Sauce Recipe

This sweet sauce is made with rum, hrown sugar, and freshed chopped pineapple and it is is delicious served over ice cream, pancakes, waffles, or cake squares. Vanilla extract can be substituted for the rum. Ingredients
- 1 pound of light brown sugar
InstructionsMix the brown sugar and water and bring to a boil over moderate heat. Stir occasionally and keep a close eye on it. When it starts to boil, keep boiling it for five minutes. Remove from heat. Core the pineapple and dice it into 1/4 inch chunks. Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the pineapple,and cook and stir the mixture for about 1.5 minutes or until the pineapple is heated. Add the rum or vanilla and look it an additional 1 or 2 minutes. Add the brown sugar syrup and bring mixture to a boil. Serve warm poured over ice cream, pancakes, waffles, or cake squares. Resources(to be added) Collection of Recipes From Hawaii
