Kalbi Recipe

Ingredients

- 1-1/4 cups of water
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- Roasted sesame seeds
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon chopped green onion
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 3/4 teaspoon white pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon MSG (optional)
- 3 pounds beef short ribs cut flanken style
- 1 thick slice of onion
- 4 or 5 green onions, bottoms only

Instructions

In a large bowl, mix water, soy sauce, sugar, 1 tablespoon roasted sesame seeds, sesame oil, chopped green onion, green onion, garlic, pepper, and MSG. Add short ribs to marinade and mix to coat ribs thoroughly. Cover and marinate for at least 8 hours. Remove meat from marinade and drain. Sprinkle with additional sesame seeds, and grill meat over hot coals with the sliced onion and the pieces of green onion. Cook to desired degree of doneness.
