Description of Marker 3
Marker 3 on the Waikiki Historic Trail explains how Waikiki transitioned from being a huge swamp, to being a center of agriculture, to being a breeding ground for mosquitos, to being drained by the Ala Wai Canal to make room for the streets, hotels, shops, and restaurants that make up Waikiki today.. The marker is placed on the former location of one the homes of Queen Liliuoklanai, the last reigning monarch in Hawaii.

Location of Marker 3
