Molokini is small crescent shaped island in Maalaea Bay,
about 2.5 miles off the south coast of Maui. It is the tip
of an inactive underwater volcanic crater.
It has been designated by the State of Hawaii as a
Marine Life and Bird Conservation District, and it is a popular
spot for snorkeling, scuba diving, and kayaking tours.
Molokini can only be reached by boat, and trips to
the island typically begin at the Kihei Boat Ramp.
There are no hotels, restaurants or development
of any kind on Molokini.
