Festivals in October on Kauai
Eo E Emalani Alakai (The Emalani Festival)
Outdoor festival honoring Hawaii's Queen Emma held every year,
in early October in Kokee State Park on the west side of Kauai.
The event was founded in 1988 and it commemorates Queen
Emma's 1871 visit to Kauai's upcountry forests. Activities and
entertainment include live Hawaiian music and hula performances,
historic displays, and a reenactment of Queen Emma's
rand entrance onto the Kanaloahuluhulu Meadow in Kokee State
Park, where the festival takes place.
The 2009 Eo E Emalani I Alakai Festival
(aka the 2009 Emalani Festival) will take place on October 10,
2009, beginning at 10:00 a.m. in Kokee State Park.
Kauai Coconut Festival
An annual Kauai event celebrating the cultural,
social, and historical importance of the coconut.
Includes coconut food items, crafts, games,
and contests. The 13th annual Kauai Coconut Festival
is scheduled to take place on Saturday and Sunday,
October 3-4, 2009 at Kapaa Beach Park. For more information about the
annual Coconut Festival Presented by the Kapaa Business

Kauai Hawaiiana Festival
This annual Kauai festival is actually three separate events
occurring over three days in October, the
Kauai Hawaiiana Festival, the Malama Ola Health
and Fitness Festival, and the annual conference of the
Hawaii Hotel and Lodging Association (HHLA).
The 2009 Kauai Hawaiiana Festival, the 2009
Malama Ola Festival, and the 2009 HHLA Conference
will take place October 1-3, 2009 at the Grand
Hyatt Kauai Resort and Spa in Poipu on the south
coast of Kauai.
Kauai Matsuri Festival
(no Web site)
This annual event has been presented by the Kauai Japanese
Cultural Society for more then 20 years. It
usually takes place in September or October at the Kauai War
Memorial Convention Hall in Lihue, East Kauai. The event highlights Japanese
culture and it features odori dancing, karaoke singers,
tea ceremony demonstrations, ikebana flower arrangements,
bonsai displays, mochi pounding, arts and crafts,
and Japanese food. The 2009 Matsuri Kauai Festival
will take place October 17, 2009 at the Kauai War Memorial
Convention Hall in Lihue, East Kauai.
Kauai Hawaii Aloha Festivals Events
(none since 2007)
At one time the Hawaii Aloha Festivals
included events on all of the largest Hawaiian
islands, including Kauai, but since 2008
all of the Aloha Festivals events have been
on Oahu Island only, due to funding constraints.

Lihue Christian Church Bazaar;a>
Annual bazaar held at the Lihue Christian Church
at 2943 Kress Street in Lihue, East Kauai.
Usually takes place in the church social hall
between about 9 and 11 a.m. Booths will feature
quilts, other local style crafts, baked goods,
fresh produce, and other items for sale. The bazaar
is a benefit for the Lihue Christian Church
The 2009 Lihue Christian Church Bazaar will
take place October 10, 2009.
