Heiva I Kauai Tahitian Dance Contest
An international Tahitian dance competition
with solo, group, drumming, contemporary,
and traditional categories. Typically takes
place in August. In addition
to the dance and drumming performances the
even will have food booths and booths with
Polynesian arts and crafts. The event
will begin at 10:00 a.m. For more information
call 808-822-9447. The 2009 Heiva I Kauai Ia
Orana Tahiti will take place August 1-2, 2009
at Kapaa Beach Park in East Kauai.
Kauai County Farm Bureau Fair
The annual Kauai County Farm Bureau Fair
takes place every August at Vidinha Stadium in the town of
Lihue on the east coast of Kauai. The event features
produce and livestock exhibits, crafts, carnival rides, food,
and live entertainment. Also includes the annual
Garden Isle Orchid Show. For more information about

The 2009 Kauai County Farm Bureau Fair will
take place August 27-30, 2009 in Vidinha Stadium
in Lihue, East Kauai.
Na Holo Kai Sailing Canoe Race
(Oahu to Kauai)
The longest event in the
Hawaiian Sailing Canoe Association (HSCA)
racing series is an outrigger canoe race
from Haleiwa on the north shore of Oahu
to Poipu Bay on Kauai. The event typically
takes place in July. For more information,
select "Race & Community Service Schedule"
on the HSCA Web site. The 2009 Na Holo Kai
event will take place August 15, 2009.

Paradise Ride Kauai
The Paradise Ride Kauai event was founded in 2006 and
it is a fundraiser for Malama Pono Kauai Aids Project.
The ride takes place very two days and riders travel
approximately 55 miles per day, about 110 miles total.
On the first day cyclists ride from East Kauai to
South Kauai and back. On the second day cyclists ride
from East Kauai to North Kauai and back.
The 4th Annual Paradise Ride Kauai will take place
on Saturday and Sunday, August 8-9, 2009.
Summer Bon Dances on Kauai
There are usually bon dances on Kauai in July
at the West Kauai Hongwanji Waimea Temple,
the West Kauai Hongwanji Mission,
the Waimea Higashi Hongwanji Mission,
the Kapaa Hongwanji Buddhist Temple, and the Kapaa Jodo Mission.
