Climate of Kauai Island

Information about the weather and climate of Kauai Island in Hawaii.

High Seasons of Kauai

October Through January
October, November, December and January are the wettest months on Kauai island, but even so, those months also experience the most visitors, primarily "snowbirds" escaping the cold winters at home. Monthly rainfall is typically between 4 and 5 inches during these months. Note that airfare and hotels prices can be higher in December and January and reservations during those months must often be made well in advance.

July Through August
June, July, and August are the driest months on Kauai Island, with typically about 2 inches of rain a month. Summer is a popular tourism season, especially for families with children. Note that airfare and hotels prices can be higher during the popular summer season.

Shoulder Seasons of Kauai

September Through November
September rainfall averages about 2.7 inches and November rainfall jumps to more than 4 inches on average. Both of those months are considered a shoulder season between the island's most popular tourism periods.

February Through March
Typcally about 3.5 inches of rain per month.

April Through May
