Location of the Papahanaumokuakea MNM
All of the islands in the Monument are within the group of islands known as the Northwest Hawaiian Islands. Most of the islands within in the monument are within the State of Hawaii's Honolulu County, which also includes the Southwest Hawaiian Island of Oahu. The only exception is the Midway Atoll which is one of the Hawaiian Islands, but is not within the State of Hawaii. Midway is a territory of the United States and it is within the group of islands known as the United States Minor Outlying Islands.
