Nighttime Events in Chinatown Once a month there is a downtown art gallery walk in Chinatown and every other week there is a showing of films produced by local filmmakers. Hawaii Theatre Center (17) 1130 Bethel Street. Multi-purpose performance theatre. Ticket information: 528-0506. Proclaimed as the "Pride of the Pacific", the theatre opened in 1922 as a showplace for vaudeville, plays, musicals and silent films. In May 1996, the theatre reopened, following years of disuse and a complete restoration. It is listed on both the State and National Registers of Historic Places.
