An introduction to the Aloha Tower Marketplace, a shopping,
dining, and entertainment center located adjacent to the Aloha
Tower on the downtown Honolulu waterfront. You can see a
little of the
Falls of Clyde clipper ship in the upper left
corner of this picture.
The 8800 square foot Aloha Tower Marketplace on
Ala Moana Boulevard in Honolulu has architecture
reminiscent of Honolulu in the 1930's and 1940's.
The center opened in 1994 as part of the
Honolulu Harbor commercial revitalization project.
The Aloha Tower Marketplace is open Monday through Saturday 9:00 am to 9:00 pm and Sunday 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. Parking is not free, but Waikiki visitors can take the red line of the Waikiki Trolley. Shops in the Aloha Tower Marketplace There are more then 50 special shops at the Aloha Tower Marketplace, most of them specialzing in clothing, gifts, and household items. Aloha Tower shops include Crazy Fish for made-in-Hawaii cotton clothing, a hula supply shop, the Hawaiian Ukulele Company, Hawaii Pacific Crafts, several jewelry shops, and many others. Restaurants in the Aloha Tower Marketplace Full service restaurants in the Aloha Tower Marketplace include Chai's Island, Don Ho's Island Grill, Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurant, the Bikini Cantina, Hooters, and Makino Chaya. There are also several fast food restaurants in the Aloha Tower's Makai Food Lanai and fancy snack shops selling coffee, hot dogs, gelato, and other snacks. The two story food court at the Aloha Tower Marketplace was designed to look like a ship's deck. Entertainment and Special Events There is free daily entertainment in the center's interior atrium and some of Hawaii's top traditional and contemporary singers and musicians perform at Chai's Island Bistro, Don Ho's Island Grill, the Gordon Biersch Brewery, and the Tower Grill.
