About the Molokai Ferry

Molokai Ferry Shut Down in 2016
Announcement posted on the official Web site of the Molokai Ferry in 2016 to announced they would be shutting down their regularly scheduled ferry service as of October 27, 2016 due to insufficient funding.

The Hawaii Ocean Project's Molokai Ferry provided regularly scheduled water transportation between Maui Island and Molokai island.

When the ferry was operating it crossed the channel twice a day between the Maui town of Lahaina and the Kaunakakai Harbor in the Molokai town of Kaunakakai. The trip took about 90 minutes each way and the round trip fare was about $120.

Hawaii Ocean Project
Operator of the former Molokai Ferry service. Note that even though their ferry service is no longer operating, the Hawaii Ocean Project> still offers private charter transportation and sightseeing cruises between Maui and Molokai. The Hawaii Ocean Project is based in Lahaina Harbor, at 675 Wharf Street, on the island of Maui.
