Quick Facts About the Molokai Airport
Molokai Airport is located seven miles northwest of Kaunakakai, the island’s largest city, and is operated by the State of Hawaii Department of Transportation Airports Division. Molokai Airport occupies 288 acres on the central plateau of the island of Molokai. The airport has two runways: 4,500-feet and 3,100-feet - that accommodate commuter/air taxi and general aviation activities, as well as some military flights. Molokai Airport is served by Aloha Island Air, Hawaiian Airlines, Molokai Air Shuttle, Pacific Wings and Paragon Air. Molokai averages 98 takeoffs and landings per day. During 1999, 268,762 passengers flew in and out of the airport. The island of Molokai had its first airport in 1927. The present terminal was built in 1957 but has been renovated twice, in 1969 and 1993 to accommodate passenger traffic. The Air Traffic Control tower was built in 1979.
