Canoes Restaurant in Lanai City

A photo and information about Canoes Restaurant in Lanai City on the island of Lanai in Hawaii.

The Lanai City building at 419 Seventh Street was constructed in 1925. It was formerly the home of several dining establishments, including Canoe's Restaurant, which closed in mid-2016.

T. Endo's Fountain (1925-1951)
Cafe, soda fountain, ice cream parlor, sundries shop, and Lanai Island distributor for Rico Ice Cream and Love's Bakery. Endo's was also the local ticketing agent for Hawaii Air Transportation Service in the 1940's.

S. Tanigawa's Lanai Fountain (1951-2002)
Takeshi and Sumie Tanigawa took over Endo’s Lana‘i Fountain in 1951 and began serving hamburgers, other sandwiches, plate lunches, and saimin. Tanigawa's closed on December 31, 2002.

Canoes Lanai Restaurant (2002-2016)
Owned by Stephen Ferguson. Closed in mid-2016.
