They also dog-accompanied bird hunts that can be booked for full or half days. Frequently seen birds include Rio Grande Turkey, Cock Pheasant, Erkel Francolin, Grey Francolin, Chukar Partridge, Quail, and Doves.

Lanai Wind Farm Project Stirs Up Fears
Hunting for axis deer and mouflon sheep is a popular sport on the island of Lanai and many feel hunting is necessary to keep those species from multiplying excessively and damaging Lanai's natural habitat an ecosystem. According to this September 2008 Honolulu Star Bulletin article, Lanai's hunters are concerned that Castle & Cooke's plans to build a 300 megawatt wind farm, in a popular hunting area on the northwest side of Lanai, will prevent them from hunting in that area.

2009 Lanai Mouflon Sheep Hunting Season
Registration for the 2009 Mouflon Sheep Hunting Season on Lanai will begin on April 27, 2009 and it will end on May 29, 2009. The season will include three types of hunts:
- Archery-Only: July 25 - August 1 2009 (8 days)
- Muzzleloading : August 8 and August 15, 2009 (2 Saturdays)
- General Rifle: August 22 - October 17, 2009 (9 Saturdays)

2009 Lanai Axis Deer Season
Registration for the 2009 Axis Deer Hunting Season on of Lanai began on October 27, 2008. The season will include three separate hunting periods: axis deer hunting season
- Archery-Only: February 21-28, 2009 (8 days)
- Muzzleloading: March 7, 2009 and March 14 2009 (2 days)
- General Rifle: March 2 - May 16, 2009 (9 days)
