Russian Fort on Kauai
The Russian fort in Pakala Village was built by the Russian American Company in 1817 as a fueling station and trading location in the Pacific. The fort had a short history. It only operated between 1815 and 1817 before it was abandoned. The fort site has been desinated a United States National Historic Landmark and a State of Hawaii Historical Park.
