Introduction to Big Island Airports

Kona Airport (KOA)
3,450 acre commercial airport located about seven miles northwest of the town of Kailua-Kona, in the North Kona Region on the west side of Hawaii Island. KOA is the busiest airport on the Big Island, with more than 1.3 million enplanements a year. The full name of the Kona Airport is the "Kona International Airport at Keahole".

Hilo Airport (ITO)
Tjos 1,390-acre airport on the east side of Hawaii Island is the second busiest airport on the island, second only to the Kona Airport. It has more than 600,000 enplanements a year. It is located in tghe town of Hilo in the South Hilo Region of hawaii Island.

Upolu Airport (UPP)
82-acre general airport near the town of Hawi on the north coast of Hawaii Island. Typically averages about 60 aircraft operations per month.

Waimea-Kohala Airport (MUE)
90-acre general aviation airport with some commercial flights. Located about 2 miles southwest of Kamuala, an inland paniolo country town also known as Waimea. Typically averages about 40 aircraft operations per month.
