Kona Region of Hawaii Island
Includes both the North Kona Region and the South Kona Region.
The largest community in the Kona Region is the
town of Kailua-Kona.
Kohala Region of Hawaii Island
Includes both the North Kohala Region and the South Kohala Region.
Hilo Region of Hawaii Island
Includes the North Hilo Region and the South Hilo Region.
The largest town on the Big Island is Hilo and that town
is also the administrative seat of Hawaii County.
Hamakua Region of Hawaii Island
Includes a western-most section of the rugged Hamakua Coast
on the north shore of Hawaii Island.
Puna Region of Hawaii Island
Volanic region situated between the Hilo Region and
the Kau Region. Includes the towns of Pahoa and Volcano
and parts of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.
Kau Region of Hawaii Island
Remote region with little tourism infrastructure on
the south side of Hawaii Island. Includes the island's only
green sand beach and the southern-most point in the United States.
Parts of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park are also located in
te Kau Region.
