August Festivals

Don the Beachcomber Mai Tai Festival
Annual event hosted by the Royal Kona Resort featuring a mai tai making contest for professional bartenders from all over the world. The event also includes other activities such as a barbecue cook-off, pool party with live music, and a farmer's and crafter's market.

Establishment Day Hawaiian Festival
Annual cultural festival held every year at the Puukohola Heiau Natural Historic Site. Activities at the event include a royal court procession, hula performances, arts, crafts, and cultural exhibits. The event site is located on the northwest coast of Hawaii Island about one mile south of Kawaihae.

Mango Festival
The Inaugural Mango Festivalwas held on Saturday, August 1, 2009, in various locations on the west side of Hawaii Island. Events and activities included mango displays, a farmer's market, live music, mango tasting, educational presentations, and other mango-related activities.

Hawaii's World Heritage Festival
The 6th Annual Hawaii's World Heritage Festival will take place on Saturday, August 15, 2009, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Mooheau Bandstand and Park in Downtown Hilo.

International Festival of the Pacific
Annual Hilo event celebrating the ability of Hawaii's multi-ethnic people to work and live together. For more information contact the Japanese Chamber of Commerce at 808-934-0177.

Long distance canoe race at Anaehoomalu Bay with separate men's and women's events. (is it organized by the Kawaihae Canoe Club?)

Long distance canoe race organized by the Puna Canoe Club. Takes place at Honaunau.
