West Big Island 4th of July Events
Kona 4th of July Parade
There is usually an Independence Day Parade
in Kailua-Kona that begins about 10:00 a.m.
on the 4th of July. The parade route usually
begins at the Kona Gym and it proceeds down
Kuakini Highway, Palani Road, and Alii Drive
to the Coconut Grove Marketplace.

Kona 4th of July Celebration
This alcohol-free event will feature live music,
dancing, children's programs, and a fireworks
display. The event will take place from 4 p.m.
to 10 p.m. and free parking will be available
at the University of Nations. To confirm the
event will happen this year call 808-326-4420.
Great Waikiloa 4th of July Extravaganza
Every year the Waikoloa Resort in West Hawaii
presents a 4th of July celebration called the "Great Waikoloa Rubber Duckie Race
and 4th of July Extravaganza". The event features
all-day live music, family games and activities,
a Rubber Duck Race fund-raiser for the United Cerebral
Palsy Association, and a fireworks display accompanied
by live music performed in a concert at the Waikoloa Bowl
at Queens' Gardens.
The 18th annual 4th of July Rubber Duckie Race and Festival
will take place July 4, 2009.
Mauna Lani Turtle Independence Day
Since 1989, the Mauna Lani Bay Resort has received
juvenile honu (turtle) from Oahu’s Sea Life Park,
raised them in the resort's saltwater ponds.
The turtles are cared for until they grow to a
a certain size and weight, and then they are released
into the wild. The releasing ceremony occurs every
4th of July in the ocean at the front of the resort.
The 20th Annual July 4th Turtle Independence Day
Celebration at the Mauna Lani Bay Hotel and
Bungalows will take place on Saturday, July 4, 2009
from 10:309 a.m. to 12:00 noon. The event will
also feature live music, educational green
sea turtle displays, and the Mauna Lani
4th of July Barbecue.
Firecracker Open Big Game Fishing Tournament
The Firecracker Open is a big game fishing tournament
that happens every year in Kona, over the Fourth of July weekend.
The 18th annual tournament will take place July 1-2, 2006.
This event is part of the Maui Jim Hawaii Marlin Tournament Series.
East Big Island 4th of July Events
Hilo Fireworks Shows
In past years there have been 4th of July fireworks shows
at three Hilo locations: along the Bayfront Highway,
in Liliuokalani Park, and in the soccer field along
Kamehameha Highway. For information about
this year's 4th of July fireworks shows on Hawaii
Island contact the Hawaii County Parks and Recreation

Volcano 4th of July Parade
Call 808-967-7209 to find out if there will be
a 4th of July Parade and Celebration in
Volcano Village this year. In past years
there has been a Volcano Village Independence
Day Parade beginning about 9:00 a.m. followed
by Volcano 4th of July Celebration featuring
live music, food, game booths, and other
North Big Island 4th of July Events
Parker Ranch Independence Weekend Rodeo
The 47th Annual Parker Ranch Rodeo will take place
the day before Independence Day, on July 3, 2009
at the Parker Ranch Rodeo Arena in Kamuela (Waimea).
The event usually features typical rodeo events, horse races,
children's pony rides, wagon rides, food and game booths,
and other family activities. For more information
