Labor Day in Hawaii
Labor Day is an official state Holiday in Hawaii and it is observed every year on the first Monday in September. Events in Hawaii that typically take place over Labor Day weekend include the Waikiki Roughwater Swim, the Maui Channel Swim, the Okinawan Festival in Kapiolani Park, ,the Parker Ranch Round-Up Rodeo, the Kona Slack Key Guitar Festival, the Dick Evans Memorial Circle Oahu Bike Race, and many other events.

Queen Liliuokalani's Birthday
Hawaii's Queen Liliuokalani was born on September 2, 1838. September events celebrating her birthday and honoring her memory include a ceremony, concert, and worship service on the grounds of the Iolani Palace, a festival in Hilo's Liliuokalani Park, a canoe race off the coast of Kona, a Queen Liliuokalani lei draping ceremony, and other events.
