Aloha Festivals
This September festival features a floral parade in Waikiki,
a street festival in Waikiki and other special events.
Since 2008 all of the Aloha Festivals events have been held
on the island of Oahu.
Festivals of Aloha
Fall cultural festival founded in 2008 after the Aloha Festivals
organization was no longer able to fund events on the outer islands.
The festival features a series of events in September and October,
including the Richard Hoopii Falsetto Contest at the Maui Arts
and Cultural Center, a parade and hoolaulea on Molokai,
cultural demonstrations on Lanai. and a long weekend of special events in
Hana, East Maui, including a parade, hoolaulea, fishing tournament,
sports day, teen night, and family play day.
Hawaii Island Festival
The Hawaii Island Festival was founded in 2008 when the Aloha Festivals
organization was no longer able to fund outer island events.
The festival is a series of events that takes place at several
different venues. The Waikoloa Beach Marriott Hotel events
include the Ms. Aloha Nui Pageant, the Great Waikoloa Poke Contest,
and the Clyde "Kindy" Sproat Falsetto and Storytelling Contest.
Events at other venues include the Waimea Paniolo Parade and
Hoolaulea in Kamuela (aka Waimea), the Hula Palua at the
Keauhou Beach Resort Hotel, the Kupuna Hula Festival (for elders)
at the Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort, and the Queen Liliuokalani
Festival in Hilo's Queen Liliuokalani Park.

Kauai Mokihana Festival
September festival featuring a series of cultural events
that usually include a hula competition, a Kauai composers competition,
a Hawaiian instrument competition, and other events.
Kona Slack Key Guitar Festival
Slack key guitar concert and festival produced by
Milton Lau that is held every year, usually on the
Sunday before Labor Day, on the lawn of the
Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort in West Hawaii.
The 17th Annual Kona Style Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar
Festival will take place September 6, 2009 from 12:00
noon to 5:00 p.m.
Okinawan Festival of Hawaii
Annual Okinawan cultural festival in Waikiki's Kapiolani
Park that usually takes place over Labor Day weekend.
The 27th Annual Hawaii Okinawan Festival will take place
on Saturday and Sunday, September 5-6, 2009 and it
will showcase Okinawan culture, music, dancing, arts, and food.
Taste of the Hawaiian Range & Agriculture Festival
The 14th Annual Mealani's "A Taste of the Hawaiian Range
and Agriculture Festival" will take place at the Hilton Waikoloa
Village Resort on Friday, September 18, 2009. The event will include
educational seminars, an agricultural festival trade show,
and food tastings featuring Hawaii Island meat and produce
prepared by more then 30 chefs from throughout Hawaii.
Hawaii Writer's Conference
Healthy Baby Contest
The annual Meadow Gold Healthy Baby Contest, in partnership
with the Honolulu Chinese Jaycees, helps raise community
awareness of the importance of teaching children good
health and nutrition habits at an early age.
Hula Heritage Dance Festival
Kauai Mokihana Festival
Features lectures, workshops, arts and crafts, and
a hula competition for men and women, and other events
in various locations on Kauai. Presented every year
by the Malie Foundation.
Kona Slack Key Guitar Festival
Maui Chefs Present
This annual benefit for the Maui Community College
Culinary Arts Program takes place on a night
in September. The event is a theme cocktail party
and dinner prepared by some of Maui's top chefs.
