Hawaii World Heritage Festival
Festival in downtown Hilo on the east coast of Hawaii Island showcasing the diverse cultures of Hawaii and other parts of the world The 6th Annual Hawaii's World Heritage Festival took place on Saturday, August 15, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Mooheau Bandstand in Moheau Park in down town Hilo.

Honolulu Family Festival
The Honolulu Family Festival is described on our July Festivals page, because in 2009 it began on July 30 but it continued past the end of July, ending on Sunday, August 2, 2009.

Greek Festival of Hawaii
Annual festival featuring Greek music, dancing, crafts, and food. Takes place every August in the McCoy Pavilion at Ala Moana Park. The 2009 Greek Festival Hawaii took place on Saturday and Sunday, August 29-30, 2009 from 12 noon to 8 or 9 p.m. each day. Admission was $3 for age 12 and older.

I Love Liliha Festival
Annual festival celebrating the diversity and community pride of the Liliha area of Honolulu. The 6th Annual I Love Liliha Festival took place August 29, 2009, at Prince David Kawananakoa Playground, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Lahaina Plantation Days
This festival celebration Lahaina's plantation history is described on our July Festivals< page because in 2009 it began on July 30 but it continued into August, ending on August 1 2009.

Oahu Slack Key Guitar Festival
All-day, slack key guitar festival and concert that was takes place every year in Waikiki's Kapiolani Park on the island of Oahu. The 27th annual Oahu Slack Guitar Festival took place in Kapiolani Park on August 16, 2009 from 12 noon to 6:00 p.m.

Joy of Sake
The Joy of Sake is an annual sake and appetizer tasting event that takes place in three locations every year, including Honolulu Hawaii. The 2009 Joy of Sake took place at the Honolulu Academy of Arts on August 21, 2009.

Made in Hawaii Festival
Annual trade show in the Blaisdell Exhibition Hall in Honolulu featuring food and other products made in Hawaii.

Heiva I Kauai / Kauai Tahiti Fete
Annual Tahitian dance competition held every August at Kapaa Beach Park on the east Coast of Kauai. For more information call 808-822-9447. The 8th Annual Heiva I Kauai Tahiti Fete took place August 1-2, 2009 at Kapaa Beach Park in East Kauai. The event featured solo and group Tahitian dance and drum competitions and multi-cultural exhibition dancing, singing, and crafts. The admission fee was $5 per day

Heiva I Maui / Maui Tahiti Fete
Annual Tahitian dance and drumming competition. The 12th Annual Heiva I Maui Tahiti Fete took place August 15-16, 2009 at the War Memorial Gym in Wailuku, Central Maui. The event included solo and group dancing and drumming competitions for all ages and Tahitian food and craft vendor booths.
