African American Exhibit Proposed to Bishop Museum
In July of 2000 the African American Cultural Center (AACC) asked Hawaii residents to donate artifacts and photographs of Hawaii's most prominent black citizens and African American history in Hawaii. The Bishop Museum has a special section dedicated each of the largest ethnic groups in Hawaii and the AACC was planning to propose that the museum add an exhibit featuring African Americans in Hawaii.
